Add sugar, milk and melted butter together in a pot over med-high heat.
Bring the mixture to a boil. Set timer for 1 minute and stir continuously.
Remove pot from heat adding vanilla & baking soda. Stir together. Add orange zest and stir.
Allow syrup to thicken slightly and pour over favorite breakfast foods!
