🥘 Ingredients
With a handful of basic ingredients you likely already have on hand, this syrup comes together in just mere minutes.
- Sugar
- Milk or Half and Half
- Butter
- Vanilla
- Baking Soda
- Orange Zest
🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions
Firstly, to get the Butter Blonde syrup going we need to add the sugar, milk and melted butter in a pot over medium-high heat. Stir everything together until the pot comes to a boil.
Then once boiling, set a timer for one minute. Continue to stir the syrup to keep it from over heating and crystalizing.
As soon as the timer is done, remove your pot with the Butter Blonde syrup from the heat. This is important! You want to be careful not to boil the syrup for too long otherwise it will begin to crystalize.
Then go ahead and add the vanilla and baking soda to the mixture. Afterwards stir everything together and watch for the magic to happen. My kids love to watch the baking soda reaction here.
Lastly, once your Orange Blonde Butter syrup is slightly thickened go ahead and add the freshly zested orange to the pot, give it a final stir and enjoy warm!
If preferred you can leave out the orange zest all together. This will give you a more traditional for a warm vanilla butter syrup instead.
