🥣 Step-by-Step Instructions
In a blender add the mandarin oranges and yogurt first, then your blueberries and frozen banana. Using frozen bananas and blueberries makes for a smooth and creamy texture.
It also helps to make your Blueberry Banana Smoothie nice and cold without having to use ice, as ice will make your smoothie get watery real fast.
In fact, whenever I have bananas that are too ripe to eat, I like to peel them, cut them in half, and place them in a freezer safe bag or container in the freezer to use in our smoothies.
Remember that it is better to add the yogurt and mandarin oranges first, then the frozen blueberries and banana last. The liquid on the bottom of the blender will help prevent things from seizing up.
Once everything has been added cover the blender and allow to blend till smooth. After the Blueberry Banana Smoothie has reached the perfect consistency turn off the blender and pour your drink into a favorite cup and enjoy!
👩🏻🍳 Make it Your Own
Smoothies are hands down one of the easiest things to customize and make your own. In fact one of our go to moves with this particular recipe is substitute the yogurt for greek yogurt.
Or if you're not a fan of bananas try swapping it out for a different preferred fruit like strawberries or raspberries.
Sometimes Dal also likes to add a scoop of protein powder, flax seed, or chia seeds to his smoothies for an extra boost. I also love topping my Blueberry Banana Smoothie with granola or fresh fruit if I am enjoying it for breakfast.
🫙 How to Serve
We love enjoying this sweet and creamy smoothie anytime of the year! In fact we enjoy smoothies 4 or 5 days out of the week. This Blueberry Banana smoothie isn't just for breakfast or brunch it is also delicious as a mid afternoon snack or light lunch!
If wanting to mix things up a bit and add a new drink to the menu give some of our other favorite smoothies like this Orange Julius copcat, the Mixed Berry Pineapple smoothie or our Peanut Butter & Banana shake a try!
These tumbler cups are a favorite for smoothies. I really like that we can make smoothies in the morning and take them with us on our day's adventures.
Especially with kids, tumblers are a must for being able to enjoy smoothies on the go. We love taking them to the park, splash pad or children's museum. Plus it helps to keep everything nice and chilled!
