How to Make Buffalo Dip
Step 1
Start by preparing your shredded chicken. This is the perfect time to grab a rotisserie chicken from Costco or pull out some pre-shredded chicken from the freezer.
Step 2
Make the sauce and combine all the ingredients in a large bowl. For Christmas my sister gave me this incredible mixing tool, my new favorite kitchen gadget. If you have never used a dough whisk before you need to. It makes mixing so, so easy!
Step 3
Transfer to an oven safe baking dish and put it in the oven to warm up. You can also prepare this dish in a crockpot or instant pot if preferred. If making in a Crockpot you'd want to cook on low for 3 hours or on high for 1 hour.
Step 4
After removing from the oven mix with a spoon. Add any desired toppings and serve with your favorite dipping things. Some of our favorite toppings are bleu cheese, sliced green onion, shredded cheese or crispy fried onions.
Make It Your Own
I'll be honest, this isn't a dish I had ever tried before a month ago. But a friend introduced us and now Dallin and I are addicted! Like seriously, I'm not kidding. The first night we made it we polished it off so fast. And even then we couldn't get enough. So we made it again the next day. 😋
But ... we are fully aware this is a hearty and heavy dish ... so if you are looking for a way to change things up try a few of these tricks:
- Healthier - Try swapping the cream cheese for Cottage Cheese, a Greek Cream Cheese or Neufchatel Cheese. All would give you a lower fat and higher protein meal.
- Different Flavors - Swap ranch dressing for bleu cheese dressing or use sour cream in the dressings place altogether.
- More or Less Heat - You can also give the dish more or less heat by changing the amount of hot sauce you add.
How to Serve Buffalo Chicken Dip
This dip is perfect for serving charcuterie board style. Pair it with cool and crunchy veggies like celery, cucumbers, carrots, or peppers. Serve with salty and crisp chips, pretzels or crackers. You can also enjoy it on soft pita bread or baguette slices. The options are endless.
Whether you serve Buffalo Chicken Dip as a snack or for dinner it is one hearty and heavy bite that will leave everyone happy and satisfied.
Pro Chef - Mom Hacks
If in a time crunch you can definitely prep this dish ahead of time by mixing everything together and storing in the fridge till ready to bake and serve.
Unfortunately this dip does not freeze well. If you have any leftovers you will want to store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 or 3 days.
